COVER YOUR AURAT CAMPAIGN | SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!

KakNgah here. I've been doing something these few days which I discovered is called 'blogwalking', which I figured basically means to visit other blogs and maybe leave comments in the ones that interest you.

Anyway, I blogwalked here and there, and came across this particular blog through a blog which I came across through a friend's blog. Confusing? No matter. What matters is this particular entry of the blog owner that particularly drew my attention.

An Aurat Campaign? Sign me up. In fact, sign all of us up- KakYong, KakNgah and KakCik. Anything that helps to improve the ummah to become better Muslims is good, as long as it follows the Syariah.

I'm supposed to write my views on covering the aurah. Let's see... what can I say? What can I say? What can I say when all that needs to be said has been said by the Lord of the Universe Himself? The command for covering the aurah has clearly been stated in the Quran, one of which is in Surah an-Nur ayat 31:

Source

In English:
"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband`s fathers, their sons, their husbands` sons, their brothers or their brothers` sons, or their sisters` sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss."
[Surah An-Nur, Ayat 31]

 [Surah An-Nur, Ayat 31]

I am no expert in the Arabic language, and by no means am I qualified to make a translation of what this ayat means, but any intelligent person would know what the meaning given above implies. It is compulsory to cover your aurah, whether you are a man or woman, and there are only certain people to whom you can reveal certain parts of your aurah and beauty.

My advice is, go to your ustaz or ustazah to get more meaning out of this ayat.

Now some people may say or think, "I perform my prayers and I never miss them. I fast regularly. In fact I get up in the middle of the night to perfomr tahajjud. That should be enough shouldn't it? Some people cover their aurah and never do the good things that I do."

Beware of what your heart thinks! If you think you know what is best and what can be done, know this: You don't. You DON'T. The only being who knows what is best for us is Allah, and if he has told us to cover our aurah, what should we, mere mortals, but do what He says?

You say you are a Muslim. You say you believe what the Quran says. So why don't you follow what it says? If you believe in Allah, then you should also 'believe Allah'. We should believe that Allah knows what is best for us, and believe that what He tells us to do must be done even if we do not see the logic behind His commands.

If you don't do what Allah says, can you still claim that you believe Him?

We cannot pick and choose what we want to do and what we do not want to do. We cannot choose to pray and choose not to put on the hijab. We can't.

Ultimately, it is Allah who will judge each and everyone one of us in the end, but if we cannot even follow His commands, how can we expect Him to look at us kindly? Life is like a test, and the commands that Allah has put upon us are like exam questions. If we fail to study for or at least put effort into answering the question, how can we hope to get good marks or even pass the test?

One more thing. Putting effort into covering your aurah is one thing, but doing it properly is one thing. Make sure you find out the correct way of covering your aurah. Make sure you understand what covering your aurah means.

Sisters in particular, if you already wear the hijab, I implore you to check that you are doing it properly. For those who are still not wearing the hijab, what are you waiting for?

It won't be an easy journey. I feel for you. KakYong, KakNgah & Kakcik all feel for you. We're women too. We know what it's like. But remember! What Allah thinks of you, is far, far more important than what other people think of you.

Believe in Allah. Ask for His help. Remember, His mercy is Great, as is His anger.

May Allah protect us and guide us to right path, insya-Allah.

Let's cover our aurah properly, sisters!

Oh, I'm supposed to tag 3 friends, but I chose to tag these 4:
